Everything a Calgary homeowner asks before booking a Discovery Consultation. If your question isn't here, call Sean directly.
Questions homeowners ask before they've decided whether EnerClear is the right fit.
The Discovery Consultation exists to answer that question. In a 30 to 45 minute conversation, we get a sense of whether your project aligns with what EnerClear does well and where we're taking work. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you, and often can suggest someone who is.
Yes. The Discovery Consultation and the Site Assessment that follows it are both complimentary. Homeowners who choose EnerClear pay when the project quote is accepted.
EnerClear runs a calendar, not a queue. Most projects book 4 to 8 weeks from quote acceptance. Larger Full Envelope projects often book further ahead, considering variables like permits and special-order materials. Your Discovery Consultation will include current timeline context.
Primary service area is Calgary and surrounding communities. We work in established Calgary neighbourhoods including Discovery Ridge, Lake Bonavista, Mount Royal, Altadore, Britannia, Pump Hill, Willow Park, Varsity, Edgemont, Ranchlands, Bonavista, Elbow Park, Silverado, and inner-city Calgary.
We focus on Calgary proper. Projects in Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Canmore, and Chestermere are considered on a case-by-case basis. Reach out and we'll let you know if your location works.
EnerClear specializes in residential exterior renovation for established Calgary homes. We occasionally consider small multi-family or townhouse projects on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to discuss.
The questions that matter most to homeowners deciding if EnerClear fits their budget.
Itemized, transparent quotes. You see what every choice costs, where ranges exist, and where you can flex. No allowance traps, no hidden lines. We don't move forward until you're comfortable with the entire plan.
Premium siding replacement on a typical Calgary home typically falls between $35,000 and $80,000. A Full Envelope transformation including siding, windows, roof, and trim runs $150,000 to $400,000+ depending on scope. Windows alone range from $20,000 to $60,000. Doors $4,000 to $15,000 per opening. Roofing $12,000 to $40,000.
Yes. Our current financing partner is Financeit, and we'll introduce you during the quote stage. Most homeowners we work with prefer to plan around the quote and use their existing financing path. Financing is there if it's useful.
We require a deposit of 25% on contract signing to reserve space in our calendar. Progress draws are collected at key milestones, typically materials delivery and finishing stage.
Honest answer: rarely accurately. The exterior of a Calgary home is too variable for a phone quote to be useful. Once we've done a Site Assessment we can give you tight numbers. Until then we can give you category benchmarks if it helps your planning.
Materials at the spec we recommend, labour, permits, disposal, site protection, mobilization, insurance, warranty, and project management.
EnerClear quotes show GST as a separate line item, so you see the subtotal and the GST clearly. The contract total is the all-in number you budget against.
Schedule, permits, weather, and what life looks like during the build.
A single-service replacement (siding only, windows only, roof only) is typically a couple of days to 3 weeks of active build time plus material lead time. A Full Envelope transformation runs 3 to 8 weeks of active build time. Calgary's build window is short. We use it well.
Three phases, eight steps. Phase 1 (Understand): Discovery Consultation, Site Assessment. Phase 2 (Design and Plan): Design and Recommendations, Transparent Quote, Scheduling and Preparation. Phase 3 (Execute and Deliver): Expert Construction, Finishing and Detailing, Final Walkthrough. Full detail at /process.
It will. We plan for it. Weather buffers are baked into the schedule we hand you, and we communicate proactively when an active weather event is going to push a milestone. You hear from us before you have to ask.
EnerClear handles all required City of Calgary permits and inspections. We schedule inspections, we meet the inspector on-site, and we manage any follow-up the inspection requires. Permit fees are included in your project quote. There are no surprise permit invoices.
For exterior-only work, no. Interior life carries on. We protect entry points, set up dust control where exterior work intersects the home (around windows, doors, attic access), and sequence work to minimize disruption.
On Full Envelope projects involving structural additions, some interior staging may be required. We'll discuss this in detail during project planning if it applies to your scope.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Saturday work happens only by prior arrangement and with neighbour courtesy in mind. Calgary noise bylaws prohibit construction outside approved hours, and we respect those plus your neighbours' reasonable expectations.
What goes on your home, and why. Each material chosen for Calgary's climate.
Hardie fiber cement holds dimensional stability across Calgary's -40 to +30 Celsius range, carries a Class 4 hail impact rating, and offers a 30-year non-prorated transferable warranty on the substrate plus 15 years on the ColorPlus finish. After decades of working on Calgary exteriors, Sean has specified one siding product for premium homes: Hardie. The choice is material performance, not brand loyalty.
Lux Windows and Glass has been designing, manufacturing, and installing windows in Calgary since 1969. Every Lux window is built in their 9th Street NE facility by the same company that installs and stands behind it. ENERGY STAR rated, CSA certified, with thermal performance suited to Calgary's climate zone.
Lux is our default specification for the vast majority of projects. For heritage or specialty projects we may specify alternatives. Your Design and Recommendations meeting will confirm the right window for your home.
Fiberglass outperforms steel on thermal performance, dent resistance, and warp resistance through Calgary's freeze-thaw cycles. Industry data shows entry doors among the highest-ROI exterior improvements in North America. EnerClear specifies fiberglass.
Our standard is IKO Cambridge Architectural shingles, with an optional upgrade to Malarkey Class 4 shingles for hail-prone areas.
Material selection is part of the Design and Recommendations step. For James Hardie ColorPlus, you choose from the manufacturer's palette (20+ colours, finishes engineered to hold through Calgary UV). For trim, we work with your architectural intent to select coordinated paint or finish products. Sean walks you through the options with samples on-site so you see the colour against your actual home and light.
We also offer photorealistic 3D visualization of your colour selections before you commit, so you can see the finished exterior on your actual home before a single panel goes up.
Yes. The Exterior Health Score is a free 30-minute walk-around with Sean. You get a written score across 8 dimensions, system-by-system grades, and a clear sense of what your home actually needs. No pressure, no upsell, no obligation. Yours whether you hire EnerClear or not.
EnerClear specializes in continuous exterior insulation, which eliminates thermal bridging in the wall assembly. This is the high-leverage upgrade typically paired with siding replacement.
We focus on exterior wall insulation systems. Attic insulation top-ups are outside our standard scope, but we can recommend trusted partners who do that work well.
Generally no. EnerClear's warranty and quality guarantee depend on specifying, sourcing, and installing products we stand behind. When homeowners supply materials, we can't extend our workmanship warranty to cover them. If you have a specific product in mind, raise it early. If it meets our performance standards we'll discuss it.
Manufacturer terms, workmanship coverage, and what happens if something needs attention.
Manufacturer warranties on every material: James Hardie 30-year non-prorated substrate, 15-year ColorPlus finish; Lux Windows specific warranty terms; roofing manufacturer terms.
EnerClear backs all work with a 5-year workmanship warranty covering labour, water-tightness, and installation quality. Documentation is handed to you at Final Walkthrough and is fully transferable to a future buyer.
Call us. We don't disappear after the cheque clears. Calgary is a small enough city that contractor reputations live and die on what happens after the work. We honour the warranty and usually fix things faster than the warranty requires.
EnerClear maintains all required licensing, insurance, and manufacturer certifications. We carry $5M commercial general liability insurance, maintain an active WCB account, hold a City of Calgary business licence, and are provincially licensed and bonded. EnerClear is a BBB-accredited business.
We commit to a target completion window in your contract, with weather buffers explicitly built in. If we miss the window for reasons within our control, we'll tell you what happened and what we're doing about it, and we'll make it right. Calgary contractors who promise hard dates without weather buffers aren't being straight with you.
We work through it. The Final Walkthrough exists to flag anything that's off before we call the project complete. If something surfaces after we close out, we come back.
EnerClear does not run a maintenance service. We install systems to a spec that minimizes maintenance (proper slope, gutter guards where appropriate, downspout extensions) and can recommend a Calgary maintenance partner if you want regular service.
Who you'll work with, how communication flows, and how we treat your property.
Sean leads every client relationship from first consultation through project completion. Once the build starts, Luke (Production Lead) manages day-to-day site activity and keeps you informed. Jason (Install Team Lead) reviews installations at every critical stage. The same crew is on your home from permit to walkthrough.
You receive a written end-of-week update with progress photos every Friday. If anything unexpected comes up mid-week, a weather delay, a material substitution, an inspection result, we call or text the same day. You always know where things stand without having to ask.
EnerClear runs an in-house team. The same crew is on your home from start to finish. When a project involves specialty scope (electrical, plumbing, structural engineering sign-off), we work with a vetted roster of licensed, insured trade partners who are held to the same standard as our own crew.
Driveways, landscaping, and adjacent property protected before work starts. Daily clean-up at end of each work day. Materials staged out of the way. Dust control where exterior work intersects living space.
We notify your immediate neighbours before the work starts. Crew arrives within Calgary noise bylaw hours. Material deliveries scheduled to minimize street disruption. If parking or site access affects neighbours' access, we communicate ahead of time.
Neighbour notification letters are prepared and delivered by EnerClear as part of our pre-build process. You don't have to do it yourself.
Change orders are documented in writing before any change is made: scope, cost impact, schedule impact. You approve before we proceed. We do not surprise you with cost overruns at the end.
There is no administrative fee for minor change orders. Significant scope changes may carry a modest coordination fee, which we'll disclose before you decide.
Eavestroughs, additions, hail claims, portfolio access, disposal, and resale value.
Sometimes, but it is rarely the right long-term call. If the fascia is the surface the eavestrough hangs from, replacing the eavestrough on a compromised fascia just puts the new system on a weak anchor. We will tell you honestly when each piece can stand alone and when they need to be done together.
Structural additions are considered on a case-by-case basis and have been part of select Full Envelope projects. The Ranch Estates addition is one example. If you're considering an addition alongside an exterior transformation, raise it in your Discovery Consultation and we'll tell you whether it's in scope.
Yes. EnerClear works with homeowners navigating hail claims. We provide documentation-quality scope quotes that reflect what needs replacing and why, work alongside your insurance adjuster if helpful, and make sure nothing legitimate is left off the claim. We don't inflate scopes, we make sure they're complete. We specialize in upgrading to James Hardie siding and Class 4 shingles in hail-prone areas to break the cycle of dealing with insurance companies every few years.
Yes. The website project portfolio at /our-work shows finished EnerClear projects with before/after photography and the story behind each one. Sean can also walk you past completed projects in your neighbourhood during the Discovery Consultation if access permits.
Yes. EnerClear's workmanship warranty layers on top of every manufacturer warranty. All warranty information is supplied at the end of the project.
Yes. All demolition debris and old materials are removed and disposed of properly as part of the project.
Industry research consistently puts exterior renovations among the highest-ROI home improvements. Royal LePage's 2025 Home Renovation ROI Report values premium window replacements at approximately 13% home-value impact in the Canadian market. Zonda's 2025 Cost vs. Value Report puts fiber-cement siding at 114% cost recovery and garage door replacement at 268%. Outdoor living adds approximately 10% to home value per Royal LePage. Combined with the appraisal-quality documentation we hand you, the resale story is straightforward.

Done Once. Done Right. Done Beautifully. Three words, one commitment. Every person on the team is accountable to it. Done once means we address the full picture, not just the surface problem. Done right means the work meets a standard that holds up not just on the day we finish, but for the decades after. Done beautifully means we care about how the finished exterior looks, not just how it performs.
